First off, sorry about my delay. Secondly WELCOME! Today we will touch on a few things I’ve been thinking about over the past couple weeks. And what a more convenient way then to share it on a day that also starts with T. Sure I could’ve picked Tuesday, but I didn’t so chill.

Lets get to it….

Brussel Sprouts

  • Sure you’re all probably like ew what? No thanks. But hear me out. If you had asked me a year ago I would’ve agreed with you. However, that has allllll changed since I started ordering them as a side at restaurants. They are almost always served with bacon and some combo of balsamic or soy glaze (crack) and pan seared. As I’ve stated in the past bacon makes everything good. Except chocolate. I don’t understand bacon and chocolate. Anyways back on track. Once I had these sides at dinner, I thought this can’t be too hard. And it wasn’t. I used some teriyaki sauce and cut up some bacon and threw it all in a saucepan. I had used the crock pot earlier in the week to make pulled pork, so I also added that and some brown rice and I was in HEAVEN. Never underestimate your ability to create delicious meals with just a little bit of creativity and patience.

 The Nice Guys

  • I’m probably late to the party with this one, similar to the brussel sprouts, but this movie was one of the best I’ve seen all year. I, like most people, fell in love with Russell Crowe many moons ago. Gladiator is one of my favorite movies and every time I hear “My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius…” I get so hyped. I feel like I don’t really need to explain why you would need to watch a movie with Ryan Gosling, because I mean its Ryan Gosling. This movie combines some great cameos, a mystery, and great comedy all in one. If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, I can’t recommend this enough.

Sports

  • Football has been back for a few weeks but what is even better is Bruins hockey is back tonight! Sure we are currently losing, but there is nothing better than drinking at TD Garden, crammed into tiny seats, sitting all the way in the nosebleeds. There is comradery up in the 300s that you just can’t get anywhere else. Aside from hockey, football so far has been great for both of my teams. Being from New England, you can’t not be a Pats fan, but I bleed for Dallas. I’ll give you a minute to get out all the heckling and boos. Finished? Alright lets continue. My dad was a huge Dallas fan, and he get me hooked young. The greats of Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith were what I grew up on. Presently they are doing pretty good, but this is kind of their pattern. Start off so well and then good-bye post season. I do hope they continue the path their on. My guy in the sky would love to know in some way it was because of him. Love ya Dad.

Apples and Pumpkins and Gourds, Oh My!

  • I fiiiiinally got to be one with my basic bitchness and go both apple and pumpkin picking. We went up to DeVylder Farm in Wolfeboro, NH this past weekend and let me tell you, I was in my element. There seems to be an apple shortage this year because of the drought, but the ones we picked are delicious. Obviously I bought 2 packs of cider donuts and a gallon of Cider, because that’s what you do, when you visit an orchard. Buy apple products like they are going out of style. We picked up some good size pumpkins we will be carving this weekend. Keep up this fall basic-ness juuuust a little while longer. Oh you can bet on some pumpkin seeds getting roasted this weekend too.

Well that about does it for this Thursday. Hope you enjoyed my thoughts. Let me know if there is anything you’re thinking about what to talk about it. I’d love to hear them!
